I'm Peter Schmidt, founder of Prepare Test Prep. I personally teach most of our SAT, PSAT and ACT prep classes. I’m a proud graduate of Saucon Valley High School, Columbia University (BA) and Yale University (MM). Before launching Prepare, I performed professionally in musicals, plays and operas all over the country.
As it turns out, one of my ‘side-hustles’ — teaching SAT prep for a private firm in California — began a new career for me. I realized that my academic background, intellectual curiosity, and gregarious personality (!) combine to help me connect with students and help them learn.
Since I returned to Pennsylvania in 2004 to start Prepare, I’ve helped thousands of students significantly raise their SAT and ACT scores — and take a big step toward their college dreams. (Oh, and every so often... I do a show!)
Lansdale Area families select our SAT coaching program for compelling reasons that distinguish us from our competitors in Montgomery County and SE PA. Founder Peter Schmidt is a Columbia and Yale graduate with over 25 years devoted to SAT teaching. His approach blends rigorous academic expertise with an engaging presentation style, shaped by his performance arts background and experience as a Jeopardy! contestant. This distinctive approach makes SAT preparation less intimidating and more effective, helping Lansdale students build both confidence and competence for this crucial exam. Our SAT class option offers more instructional hours at a lower cost per hour than other tutoring centers and national chains. Students from North Penn High School, Lansdale Catholic, Dock Mennonite High School, Souderton High School, and Wissahickon High School regularly achieve score improvements of 100 to 300+ points, which translate directly into stronger admissions prospects and merit-based scholarships that can offset tens of thousands of dollars in college costs.
Our Digital SAT prep Lansdale classes are fully aligned with the computer-based SAT format that launched in 2024 and continues through 2026. The Digital SAT features a shorter 2-hour-14-minute duration, an adaptive two-module structure in both Reading & Writing and Math, and administration exclusively via the CollegeBoard’s Bluebook application, making format-specific preparation essential for current students.
Lansdale students receive in-depth instruction on the adaptive testing methodology, including how strong performance in the first module unlocks more challenging questions—and higher score potential—in the second module. Lessons emphasize accuracy and efficiency in the first module, strategic use of the built-in Desmos graphing calculator across both Math modules, effective tactics for shorter reading passages paired with single questions, and time management techniques tailored to the digital interface.
