Students achieve major score gains through structured, proven teaching.
I'm Peter Schmidt, founder of Prepare. I personally teach most of our SAT and ACT prep classes. I’m a proud graduate of Saucon Valley High School, Columbia University (BA in English), Yale University (MM in Music), and the University of Houston (MFA in Drama). Before launching Prepare, I performed professionally in musicals, plays and operas all over the country.
As it turns out, one of my ‘side-hustles’ — teaching SAT prep for a private firm in California — began a new career for me. I realized that my academic background, intellectual curiosity, and performing experience combined to help me connect with students and help them learn.
Since I returned to Pennsylvania in 2004 and founded PREPARE, I’ve helped thousands of students significantly raise their SAT and ACT scores — and take a big step toward their college dreams. (And, every so often, I do a show!)
Allentown and Lehigh Valley families select our SAT classes for compelling reasons that distinguish us from competitors. Peter Schmidt brings exceptional credentials as a Columbia and Yale graduate with over 25 years dedicated to SAT teaching, combining rigorous academic preparation with an engaging presentation style honed through his background in performance arts and experience as a Jeopardy! contestant. This unique approach makes SAT preparation less intimidating and more effective, helping Allentown students build both competence and confidence.
Our Digital SAT prep Allentown program is completely aligned with the computer-based SAT format that launched in 2024. The Digital SAT features a dramatically shorter 2-hour-14-minute duration, an adaptive two-module structure in both Reading & Writing and Math sections where question difficulty adjusts based on performance, and administration exclusively via the College Board’s Bluebook testing application.
Allentown students receive comprehensive instruction on the adaptive testing methodology. Strong performance in the first module unlocks more challenging questions in the second module and significantly higher score potential. We teach strategic approaches to maximize accuracy in those critical first modules while maintaining focus throughout the entire test. Our curriculum includes extensive practice with digital tools including the built-in Desmos graphing calculator, proven strategies for shorter reading passages, and time management techniques specific to the computer-based environment.
Full-length adaptive practice tests administered through the official Bluebook platform provide authentic test-day experience. This realistic practice builds familiarity and confidence with the digital interface, reducing test anxiety and ensuring students feel prepared when sitting for the actual Digital SAT.
Let’s discuss your goals and recommend the right prep plan.
Led by a gifted, experienced educator who knows how to connect with students.
Every class and homework assignment builds confidence and mastery.
More instructional hours at a lower cost than other competitors.
Our SAT coaching methodology addresses every section of the Digital SAT while building essential test-taking skills. In Reading & Writing, Allentown students learn evidence-based reading strategies for quickly identifying main ideas, comprehensive grammar and punctuation rules, vocabulary in context techniques, and effective analysis of the concise passages unique to the Digital SAT format. We teach systematic approaches to eliminating incorrect answer choices efficiently and maximizing accuracy under time constraints.
Mathematics instruction comprehensively covers algebra fundamentals through advanced concepts, problem-solving and data analysis including statistics and graph interpretation, advanced math topics including functions and trigonometry, and essential geometry principles. Students receive thorough training on strategic calculator usage while developing mental math shortcuts that improve both speed and accuracy. Our approach emphasizes understanding underlying mathematical principles rather than rote formula memorization, enabling students to confidently approach unfamiliar problems.
Beyond content review, our program develops critical test-taking strategies including effective time management, question prioritization, educated guessing techniques, stress management, and strategic navigation of the digital platform. Students complete regular homework assignments and take multiple full-length adaptive practice tests with detailed score analysis.
Since 2004, Prepare for the SAT has served over 6,000 students from more than 100 Pennsylvania high schools. Our Allentown and Lehigh Valley students have gained acceptance to prestigious universities including Ivy League institutions, highly selective liberal arts colleges like Swarthmore and Haverford, competitive engineering programs at Lehigh University and Lafayette College, and top state universities. Many have earned substantial merit-based scholarships—sometimes full-tuition awards worth over $200,000—directly attributable to their improved SAT scores.
Our academic-year SAT classes meet twice weekly for six weeks—typically Sunday mornings plus one weeknight evening—providing substantial instructional time while accommodating busy student schedules. For students requiring more intensive preparation, we also offer condensed intensive courses and flexible one-on-one SAT tutoring tailored to individual needs.
We offer multiple SAT class sessions throughout the year, carefully scheduled to align with College Board test dates in March, May, June, August, October, November, and December. Most Allentown students enroll during spring of sophomore year through fall of junior year, allowing adequate preparation time before senior year college application deadlines.
