I'm Peter Schmidt, founder of Prepare. I personally teach most of our SAT and ACT prep classes. I’m a proud graduate of Saucon Valley High School, Columbia University (BA in English), Yale University (MM in Music), and the University of Houston (MFA in Drama). Before launching Prepare, I performed professionally in musicals, plays and operas all over the country.
As it turns out, one of my ‘side-hustles’ — teaching SAT prep for a private firm in California — began a new career for me. I realized that my academic background, intellectual curiosity, and performing experience combined to help me connect with students and help them learn.

Beginning in spring 2025, students can choose between digital and paper-based ACT testing, with identical content across both formats. Our program prepares students for either option, allowing them to select the format that best suits their testing style.
The Enhanced ACT is shorter overall but requires answering more questions per minute, making pacing and efficiency more important than ever. Content across English, Math, Reading, and Science has been rebalanced to reflect current college readiness standards. English focuses on grammar, usage, punctuation, and rhetorical skills. Math emphasizes algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and data analysis. Reading requires strong comprehension and analytical skills across diverse passages. Science tests reasoning, graph interpretation, and experimental analysis rather than memorized facts.
Our ACT classes teach targeted strategies for each section, including grammar shortcuts for English, efficient problem-solving for Math, active reading techniques for Reading, and systematic data analysis for Science.
