Founder & Lead Instructor, PREPARE Test Prep

I'm Peter Schmidt, founder of Prepare. I personally teach most of our SAT and ACT prep classes. I’m a proud graduate of Saucon Valley High School, Columbia University (BA in English), Yale University (MM in Music), and the University of Houston (MFA in Drama). Before launching Prepare, I performed professionally in musicals, plays and operas all over the country.
As it turns out, one of my ‘side-hustles’ — teaching SAT prep for a private firm in California — began a new career for me. I realized that my academic background, intellectual curiosity, and performing experience combined to help me connect with students and help them learn.
Since I returned to Pennsylvania in 2004 and founded PREPARE, I’ve helped thousands of students significantly raise their SAT and ACT scores — and take a big step toward their college dreams. (And, every so often, I do a show!)

Why Bethlehem and Lansdale Families Choose Our ACT Prep

Families throughout eastern Pennsylvania choose our ACT classes because of proven results, expert teaching, and exceptional value. Founder Peter Schmidt is a Columbia and Yale graduate with over 25 years of exclusive experience in standardized test preparation. His engaging teaching style—shaped by a background in performance arts and national recognition as a Jeopardy! contestant—helps students master complex concepts while staying motivated and confident. Students from Freedom High School, Liberty High School, Bethlehem Catholic, North Penn High School, Lansdale Catholic, and surrounding schools regularly achieve ACT composite score gains of 3–6 points, equivalent to roughly 100–200 SAT points. These improvements strengthen admission prospects at selective colleges such as Lehigh University, Lafayette College, Muhlenberg College, Temple Honors, Penn State, and Villanova, while also qualifying students for merit scholarships that can reduce college costs by tens of thousands of dollars. Our program offers more instructional hours at a lower cost per hour than national test prep companies and many local tutoring centers across Lehigh Valley and Montgomery County. Small class sizes ensure individualized attention, detailed feedback, and strategy adjustments tailored to each student’s strengths and weaknesses.

Digital ACT Prep Bethlehem at Muhlenberg College

Our Bethlehem ACT prep program is held at the prestigious Muhlenberg College campus in nearby Allentown. This distinguished academic setting offers spacious classrooms, modern technology, comfortable seating, and ample free parking. Convenient access via Route 22 and Route 378 makes this location ideal for students from Bethlehem, Fountain Hill, Hellertown, and surrounding Northampton County communities.

Bethlehem students receive instruction fully aligned with the Enhanced ACT format rolling out during the 2025–2026 testing cycle. Beginning in spring 2025, students may choose between digital and paper-and-pencil ACT formats, both featuring identical content and structure. The digital option offers an on-screen testing experience similar to the Digital SAT, while the paper format preserves traditional test-taking preferences.

The Enhanced ACT is shorter overall but requires answering more questions per minute, demanding sharper pacing and strategic efficiency. Our updated curriculum addresses all format changes, including revised section timing and content balance, while teaching proven strategies to maximize accuracy and speed under pressure.
